Arsenal hold 'positive' Rodrygo talks with club dealt £85m transfer reality

Send Push

Arsenal continue to stay active in the summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad ahead of another Premier League title push.

While Martin Zubimendi is set to join the club, no official signings have been confirmed just yet. That hasn’t stopped the Gunners from being at the centre of several high-profile transfer rumours.

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is expected to complete a move to north London, while strikers Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko remain under serious consideration.

With plenty of noise surrounding the Emirates, football.london has highlighted two of the most eye-catching transfer updates:

Positive Rodrygo talks

Arsenal have reportedly held encouraging talks over a potential deal for Real Madrid star Rodrygo, despite recent quotes from new Madrid boss Xabi Alonso insisting the Brazilian is “looking forward to enjoying himself with his quality” at the Bernabeu.

According to FootballTransfers sources, Arsenal scout Paulo Xavier has held discussions with Rodrygo’s father and agent, Eric Goes. Xavier previously worked for Madrid and was instrumental in bringing Rodrygo to Spain - a past connection that could work in Arsenal’s favour.

Reports suggest Real Madrid would not block a move if Rodrygo expresses a desire to leave, opening the door for a potential switch to the Premier League.

Mohammed Kudus £85m price-tag image

In a surprise development, Arsenal have opened early talks with West Ham over a move for Mohammed Kudus. The 24-year-old recently signed with acclaimed sports management firm ROOF, according to The Sun, fuelling fresh speculation about a potential summer departure.

If Arsenal are to make a move, they have a short window to do it and avoid any club negotiations. Kudus has an £85m release clause that can be activated between July 1 and July 10 - after that, West Ham would be free to demand a higher fee.

Saudi Arabian clubs would reportedly need to pay up to £125m, but Kudus is said to be open to new opportunities in Europe. Arsenal are exploring the option, though the player is in no rush to force an exit.
