Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has pledged that his team will battle relentlessly in their quest to secure a coveted Champions League position.

As they gear up for a pivotal final-day fixture against at home, one that could determine who claims the fifth spot, the stakes are high for the Reds. Forest's hope of reaching the remained alive after securing a 2-1 victory at West Ham on Sunday.

Gibbs-White was instrumental, netting an early goal by seizing upon a blunder from Hammers' keeper Alphonse Areola, followed by Nikola Milenkovic's deft flick for the second goal. Chelsea, meanwhile, won 1-0 against on Friday night. It means the Blues are fourth, although Nottingham Forest in seventh are just one point behind.

“We’ve made it difficult for ourselves from where we were but we’re going to fight until the end,” Gibbs-White told the club website. We’re at home, the City Ground is going to be rocking and we’ll need the fans.

“We’ll plan this week how we’re going to go into the game but we’ll be fighting.” On the match against the Hammers, Gibbs-White added: "The game summed up our season, we play for good stuff at times, but we do the dirty work too.

“The boys were incredible in the first half and in the second it was important we were more controlled, and take the next chance when we had it. The last 15-20 minutes, the boys were incredible. It shows the grit and fight in this team.”

Forest dedicated the win to striker Taiwo Awoniyi, who is recovering from surgery on a serious abdominal injury after colliding with a goalpost last weekend. “It’s incredible, especially with how this week has gone, we had to do it for ‘T’ today. The three points was for him,” said Gibbs-White.

“He gave us a nice message before the game which was nice to see. It’s been a difficult week but we’re delighted with the three points and even more happy he’s OK.”
