We're still in the dark about whether the Aussie cricketers will come back for the second part of the IPL 2025 when it starts up again on May 17th. This could really be the last straw for SRH, who've had a rough go at it. With the big boss of cricket, Pat Cummins, possibly sitting out the rest of the IPL because of the tense times with India and Pakistan, and the World Test Championship Final looming on June 11th, things are looking pretty shaky for them.
What's the latest goss? Cricket Australia said on Tuesday that it's all up to the players if they want to go back or not. So, no one can make them, not even SRH or the big guys at the BCCI. Cummins might decide to put all his energy into the WTC Final instead of finishing the IPL. That would be a real bummer for SRH, losing both a fantastic captain who's led them in 27 games with 12 wins and a top-notch bowler who's got 13 wickets under his belt in just 11 games this season.
Things are looking pretty bad for SRH as it seems Travis Head might sit out the remaining games too. He's part of that big WTC squad and probably doesn't want to get hurt before the final showdown. If he misses out, it's going to be a real blow to the team, especially with only three games to go, and their season wrapping up on May 25.
So, who's going to save the day for SRH? Heinrich Klaasen is the most likely candidate to step up to the plate. He could be the X-factor they need. The good news is, even though South Africa's in the WTC final too, Klaasen hasn't played a Test since last year, so hopefully, he's eager to come back and help SRH finish strong. But the million-dollar question is, will he return for the home stretch of the season?
