Salman Khan may have introduced her to Bollywood, but Zareen Khan has no plans of joining him on reality TV. The Veer actress, who made her Hindi film debut opposite Salman in 2010, has revealed that she was approached for Bigg Boss 19—but flatly turned it down. Her reason isn’t sugar-coated. In fact, it’s as real as it gets.
In an interview with Hindi Rush, Zareen confirmed she was offered a spot on the upcoming season of Bigg Boss but declined it due to her own temperament and personal responsibilities. “I can’t live in a house full of strangers,” she admitted, adding that she’s not the kind to quietly endure misbehaviour. She also joked that if someone talks to her the wrong way, she may hit the person, which would result in her early eviction from the house.
Beyond her zero-tolerance policy for drama, Zareen also cited her real-life commitments. In the same interview, she shared that she loves watching Bigg Boss, but she won’t uproot her life for three months since she has many responsibilities which are not finance-related. She added that even a one-day trip leaves her checking in on her mother several times a day.
Her journey after Veer
Zareen shot to fame as Salman's co-star in Veer, and later appeared in films like Housefull 2, Hate Story 3, Aksar 2, 1921, and Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele. She also made a mark in regional cinema with the Telugu film Chanakya.
What’s new in Bigg Boss 19?
While Zareen is steering clear of the Bigg Boss house, this season promises major changes, starting with the introduction of Habubu, an AI-powered robot doll from UAE-based IFCM. Clad in traditional Arabic attire and equipped to speak Hindi among other languages, Habubu is being touted as the franchise's most unexpected and tech-savvy "contestant" yet.
The casting buzz doesn’t stop there. Social media personality Apoorva Mukhija, aka Rebel Kid, confirmed she was approached for the show, responding with, “Never say never” when asked about her participation. Actor Ram Kapoor, however, was quick to shut down any speculation, firmly stating that not even Rs 20 crore could convince him to join.
Meanwhile, singer Sreerama Chandra, who impressed viewers on Indian Idol 5 and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11, is reportedly in advanced talks with the producers. Having already made waves on Bigg Boss Telugu 5, where he was a finalist, the makers seem eager to rope in someone with both credibility and charm.
Adding to the intrigue is the rumoured inclusion of Munmun Dutta, better known as Babita from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Though she’s been approached multiple times over the years, the buzz around her potential entry this season is louder than ever.
