Mumbai: Following an inspection of alleged Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) violations during renovation work at Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s 'Mannat' bungalow in Bandra West, the Forest Department is expected to submit its report in next week. Officials from the BMC’s H-West Ward also accompanied the forest team during the visit and are likely to include their own observations in the final report.
A senior official of forest department said, "Our team inspected the site after receiving a complaint. The staff at the bungalow informed us that they have required permissions from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) and would submit them to the concerned authorities. So we will wait for their reply and our report will be ready by next week." The officials of H West ward's Building and Factory department and the Building Proposal department were also part of the inspection team. Meanwhile, Khan and his family have shifted to a nearby place due to the renovation.
Shah Rukh Khan's Mumbai Residence Mannat Inspected By BMC Over Illegal Construction, Manager Says 'There Are No Complaints'Mannat bungalow, a Grade III heritage structure, includes an annex building with six storeys and two basement levels. The ongoing renovation reportedly aims to add two additional floors, which would require prior approvals from the Heritage Conservation Committee as well as necessary environmental clearances. In a complaint filed with authorities, RTI activist Santosh Daundkar alleged that the expansion violates CRZ norms, citing the bungalow’s location in an ecologically sensitive coastal area and falls within the “hazard line” marked by the Survey of India. He also said that changes to the bungalow should consider its heritage status.
