Mumbai, 21 May 2025: The Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board (MBRRB), under the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), has released a list of 96 cessed buildings across Mumbai that have been declared “extremely dangerous” following its annual pre-monsoon structural survey on Wednesday.
The assessment, aimed at ensuring public safety ahead of the monsoon, identified structures posing severe risk to life and property. Notably, two of these buildings were already marked as hazardous in last year’s survey.
These 96 buildings accommodate a total of 3,162 occupants, including 2,577 residential and 585 non-residential tenants.
As part of the immediate safety measures initiated by the Board Eviction notices have been issued to 184 residential tenants, Only 3 households have shifted to MHADA’s transit camps so far, 176 premises remain occupied despite formal notices being served, None of the affected residents have made independent relocation arrangements, Evacuation instructions have been extended to residents in all other listed buildings, with the vacating process currently underway.
Given the urgent need for alternative housing, the Board has begun arranging transit accommodations for the displaced residents.
The MBRRB has issued a strong appeal to all affected tenants and residents to cooperate fully with the relocation process and adhere strictly to safety guidelines. The Board emphasized that timely evacuation can prevent loss of life and serious incidents during the monsoon.
Residents are also urged to report any visible signs of structural danger or related emergencies to the round-the-clock Control Rooms of the Board or the Municipal Corporation.
