Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The monthly general administration meeting of Bhopal district panchayat saw heated arguments on Friday as members raised concerns over illegal mining, poor school infrastructure and dilapidated roads.
The meeting was presided over by district panchayat president Ramkuwar Naurang Singh Gurjar with CEO Ila Tiwari initiating the proceedings. The meeting saw participation from representatives of education, health, forest, PWD, and social justice department. Members present included vice president Mohan Singh Jat, Deepak Gurjar, Vinay Mehar, Rashmi Bhargava, Dev Kunwar Hada, Vikram Baleshwar and others.
At the meeting, member Vinay Mehar pointed out at the poor state of school buildings in rural areas, some over 25 years old that are crumbling and leak during rains.

Repairs are being done with limited resources,” Yadav stated. District panchayat CEO Ila Tiwari directed concerned departments to take prompt action and report back soon. Tension rose when members demanded that SDM and police officials should be called at the meeting.
There was a heated exchange of arguments between CEO Tiwari and Fanda janpad panchayat president Pramod Singh Rajput over prior written requests. Despite orders, several officials sent subordinates instead of attending the meeting in person.
Officials accused of colluding with mining mafias
District panchayat vice president Mohan Singh Jat mounted a scathing attack on mining department accusing its officials of colluding with mining mafia. Presenting evidence, he named villages like Eintkhedi, Mastipur, Binpur where excavation exceeded sanctioned limits. He alleged that prior tip-offs to mafia by officials prevented penal action against the former. He raised concern over the felling of thousands of trees.
Officials blamed for poor roads in villages
Berasia MLA representative Deepak Gurjar condemned condition of roads built under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, demanding immediate repair. PWD officials were cornered by the members over inaction. …….
