Rachel Reeves has launched a brutal assault on Nigel Farage's Reform UK as the greatest threat to working people across Britain.
The Chancellor said the right-wing outfit would tear communities and families apart if it wins power at the next general election. And she warned the party led by the ex-Ukip leader is "in bed with Valdimir Putin" as the government stands with allies across the globe.
In her speech to Labour's annual conference, Ms Reeves warned: "The single greatest threat to our way of life and to the living standards of working people is the agenda of Nigel Farage and the Reform party.
"Whatever falsehoods they push, whatever easy answers they peddle, however willing they are to tear communities and families apart, they are not on the side of working people. This is a fight that we must win, and it is a fight that we will win."
Her comment came after Keir Starmer used an interview to label Reform's plans to axe key rights for migrants - which would see people who lived and worked in the UK for years deported - racist and immoral
During her keynote speech on Monday, the Chancellor also hit back at her left-wing critics urging her to turn the spending taps on ahead of November's Budget.
She told the party faithful: “There are still people who peddle the idea that we can cast off restraints on spending. They’re wrong - dangerously so.”
The Chancellor stressed "harsh global headwinds" were making her job harder and insisted she would not take risks with the "trust placed in us by the British people".
