"Gold Coins Unearthed During Digging in Aligarh, Workers Stunned as Police Confirm Ancient Treasure"

Send Push

In a dramatic turn of events on Friday, a routine pipeline excavation in Barheti village, under Aligarh’s Quarsi police station area, led to the discovery of 11 gleaming gold coins—leaving workers and onlookers stunned. The digging, intended to create a drainage pit, quickly turned into what many are now calling a historic unearthing.

Labourers Stunned, Crowd Gathers

As soon as the gold coins emerged from the soil, the labourers were shocked. Word spread rapidly through the area, prompting villagers to rush to the spot. Within no time, a crowd had gathered around the pit. The local police were informed, and officials quickly arrived at the site, taking the coins into custody.

The coins, believed to be very old, have now been seized and will be handed over to the Archaeological Department for further investigation.

Officials Suspect Historical Significance

Authorities suspect that the coins could be of archaeological importance. While only 11 coins were officially recovered, some locals allege that other valuable items were also found but quietly taken away by bystanders. The police have appealed to the public to return any items found during the excavation.

Similar Discovery in Madhya Pradesh

A similar incident occurred earlier in Dindori, Madhya Pradesh, where a farmer stumbled upon an ancient pot filled with coins and a bell while grazing goats. Mistaking the treasure for something cursed, he handed it over to a junk dealer—who, driven by greed, kept the pot hidden at home. The truth came out when the farmer’s family intervened, and police recovered the items and notified the Archaeological Department.

What Happens Next?

The coins from both incidents will now be examined by archaeological experts to determine their age, origin, and historical value. If proven to be part of an ancient treasure, these finds could shed new light on India's forgotten wealth and history buried beneath rural landscapes.
