Just as air fryers have become a 'go-to' kitchen gadget, slow cookers have had a resurgence, too, especially as more home cooks look to create warming winter meals.
Currys has a wide variety of gadgets on offer, including the Ninja Foodi Possible Cooker MC1001UK, which is £149.99 and available in Sea Salt Grey. The product is currently out of stock on the official Ninja website, but Currys has it available, with a white colour in stock too.
Perfect for this time of year, as winter and the cold nights set in, the Ninja slow cooker can be used for creating hearty casseroles or delicious seasonal soups. With an eight-litre capacity, the eight-in-one cooker boasts eight different functions to provide plenty of options for feeding the family, a feast for guests, or batch cooking meals to store in the freezer for another day.
These include slow cook, sauté, simmer and steam - just like on a hob. Meanwhile, the Triple Fusion Heat system cooks food from below as well as the sides. Its removable non-stick pot is oven safe up to 260 °C, and is ideal for baking crumbles or pies, which can then be transferred to the oven to add a lovely golden top.
Other great features include its integrated serving spoon, which rests in the handle of the glass lid for clever storage. Another bonus is that the cooking pot, utensil and glass lid are all dishwasher safe. A handy recipe guide also comes with the Ninja to offer inspiration for quick and easy meals.
A similar alternative product is the Morphy Richards 6.5L Hinged Lid Slow Cooker in Black, which costs £70 at Argos. Featuring a hob-proof cooking pot, it enables home chefs to sear and slow cook from start to finish in one pot, and has a 6.5 litre capacity.
Another option is the Lakeland 6.5L Searing Slow Cooker, which is also on offer. It is now £99.99, a £30 saving from its original price of £129.99. Also boasting a 6.5 litre capacity, it has five pre-set browning settings for searing meat and vegetables, along with four pre-set cooking functions - low, high, steam and yoghurt.
Fans of the Ninja slow cooker have given it plenty of five-star reviews on the Currys site. One said: "Used for cooking a Sunday lunch, the meat was succulent, and the crackling was 10/10. I'm sure this will be used frequently during the winter months."
Another wrote: "Excellent, have used it frequently since having it! The slow cooker does things to perfection, being able to sear and brown the meat first is great in keeping all the flavour."
And another reviewer said they were blown away by how good it is: "As a serious cook who enjoys traditional methods, I was a little sceptical.
"However, it is brilliant; I absolutely love it. And the difference it has made to my electricity bill as opposed to using the oven! I cannot recommend it highly enough. Have just bought one for my other son. An amazing piece of equipment."
One shopper said they were slightly disappointed that it had: "No medium heat setting, only high or low." And another customer mused: "Food takes longer on low than my old ceramic slow cooker."
