Ruthless Emma Raducanu raced into the US Open third round by recording her fastest Grand Slam win for the second time this week.
Wearing the same red as in 2021, the British No.1 needed only 62 minutes on Sunday to notch her first victory here since her title triumph here.
And she went two minutes better today by taking exactly an hour to thrash Indonesian world No.149 Janice Tjen 6-2 6-1. The world 36 has lost only six games so far.
Raducanu, the most famous qualifier in tennis history, has had the fortune to start this campaign against two qualifiers and tougher tasks will follow.
But after her 26th win of the season - her highest ever number - she is in the form and the mood to go further.
"I'm very pleased with how I played," she reported. "Janice is a super dangerous opponent and is playing real well. I'm very pleased with how I kept dictating the points, I kept dictating the play, and didn't let her too often get her front foot on the court.
"She's obviously been playing very well and took out (No.24 seed) Veronika (Kudermetova) in the first round. I was on full alert playing today. Yeah, I'm just very pleased with that performance."
Like in the opening round win over Japan's Ena Shibahara, Raducanu started at 11am local time in the Louis Armstrong Stadium with an ace. She sent down eight in all and made 79% of first serves and saved all three break points against her.
"I thought that I served very well and I put quite a few aces on the board today," said the British No.1. "It always helps me when I'm serving well. It just kind of seeps into the rest of my game."
Lady in Red Raducanu, now 22, is not only playing like in 2021 but also looks like it. "I'm in red, but it wasn't by choice, no," she laughed. "It just happened to be the colour of the tournament. Quite a lot of other brands are also in red, but of course I love wearing red in general. I don't know. I think it's a decent colour for me."
She was even relaxed enough to give smiling approval to Carlos Alcaraz's new buzzcut. His mixed doubles partner said: "I think he owns it. I think he pulls it off. I think he's just taking it, and if you own a haircut like that, then it can work. I think, you know, mixed field, but whatever he does, it's not going to affect what he does on the court. I'm just happy to see him having fun with whatever."
