Video has axed a "gritty" drama series after just one season despite rave reviews. The streaming service yanked the Kevin Bacon show out of production after just eight episodes, leaving fans bereft and begging for more.
That series is The Bondsman, which landed at number nine in the streaming charts between March 31st and April 6th, racking up an impressive 563million minutes watched. It stars heavyweight Kevin Bacon as former country music star and bounty hunter Hub Halloran, who is resurrected after his death to catch demons who escaped from hell.
Reviews voted overwhelmingly to give the series five out of five stars, with an average of 4.7 on Google Reviews and an 83% Rotten Tomatoes score.

One fan praised it: "I just finished watching and honestly it blew me away. Kevin Bacon absolutely nails the role - he brings this gritty, haunted and oddly charming energy to his character that pulls you in from the very first episode."
Another echoed: "What really hooked me was the lead character - tough, flawed, and incredibly skilled, yet with just enough vulnerability to make him relatable. The writing is sharp, with unpredictable twists that keep you on edge. Plus, the action sequences are well-choreographed, adding a raw, realistic feel to the show."
Someone else posted: "A super fantastic series! Just came out of the blue, didn't even get any hype, this is the sort of programme that is well received! The legend Kevin Bacon is amazing - hope you guys bring season two." Others hailed it "one of the best" series on Prime Video.
The Hollywood Reporter, however, confirms the series has been axed despite its big names, including producer Jason Blum of Blumhouse fame. It also starred country music sensation Jennifer Nettles, Beth Grant and Damon Herriman.
