A top motoring mechanic has revealed the number one car brand road users should purchase today. Sergei Savchak, Mechanical Engineer and Co-Founder of Need Car Help, previously suggested that Japanese brand Toyota was the number one brand for those on the lookout for a second-hand vehicle.
He suggested that Toyota models are usually "well-priced" with good ownership histories, making them an ideal choice for road users. Toyota is one of the best-selling brands in the UK, with a total of 129,179 brand-new vehicles sold in 2023. There are plenty of models available on second-hand car sites such as AutoTrader, with thousands available for under the £5,000 mark.

Previously speaking to Spanish news service La Vanguardia, Sergei said: "Customers who do their homework have found Toyotas from between 2007 and 2012 [are the best value]. Generally speaking, they are good cars with meticulous owners and are well-priced. I have sometimes had the urge to buy one, but we are completely banned from doing so."
Several experts have previously highlighted how great Toyota models are, with specialists praising the brand's strong reliability as a major selling point. Speaking on TikTok, experts from Prestige Services and Maintenance suggested that Toyota's were by far the most reliable with vehicles barely coming in for repairs.
A spokesperson for the group said: "People always ask me what my favourite car brand is. For me, I love my Ferrari's. My dream car, a Ferrari 488 Pista in Rosso Corsa Red. However, the most reliable car is a Toyota. It could be any Toyota. They are reliable. They only ever come in for services and MOTs."

Meanwhile, top American mechanic Scotty Kilmer also suggested that the Toyota was by far one of the best models around. He shared particular praise for the Toyota Corolla and Toyota RAV4 models as among the very best designs on the road.
He suggested that the lack of repairs needed on Toyota models means individuals could even "save money" by landing the keys to one.
: "As a mechanic, I've worked on tons of different cars over the last five decades, and I can personally attest to Toyota's quality myself. The reliability of a Toyota is largely to do with its low number of mechanical issues. But here's something that not many people know. Buying a Toyota will actually save you a lot of money, compared to other brands."
