Liverpool star Darwin Nunez could have a medical in Germany before completing a transfer to Al-Hilal. The Uruguay international is said to be close to reaching an agreement with the Saudi Pro League club after spending the last three seasons at Anfield.
Liverpool signed Nunez from Benfica in the summer of 2022 after he had bagged 34 goals in 41 games during his final season in Portugal. The 26-year-old has proven to be a constant menace to defenders in the Premier League thanks to his strength and pace. But he has often been guilty of missing gilt-edged chances during matches. And with Liverpool chasing the signature of Newcastle ace Alexander Isak after already landing striker Hugo Ekitike and winger Florian Wirtz, Nunez may now be surplus to requirements at Anfield.
According to transfer expert Ben Jacobs, Nunez is close to agreeing terms with Al-Hilal, with Liverpool still waiting from a formal approach from the Saudi giants.
Talks between the two clubs are expected to progress swiftly if Nunez tells Liverpool he wants to move.
There is a feeling that a deal can be struck quickly, and Al-Hilal hope the player can undergo a medical in Germany pending his green light to complete the transfer.

Al-Hilal are currently training in Germany ahead of the new season, and are due to face TSG Balingen in a friendly on Wednesday evening.
The team haven't played since featuring at the Club World Cup, which took place in the USA over the summer.
Al-Hilal reached the quarter-finals of the competition before losing to Brazilian outfit Fluminense, with Chelsea going on to be crowned champions.
Nunez made 47 appearances for Liverpool during Arne Slot's maiden campaign in England, but only registered seven goals and seven assists in all competitions.
He bagged a crucial brace during the Reds' 2-0 win at Brentford in January after coming off the bench for the final 25 minutes and also struck in the league against Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Southampton.
But he was limited to just eight starts in the Premier League as his side won the title by a staggering 10 points ahead of second-place Arsenal.
Nunez featured in the first of two matches against Athletic Club on Monday as Liverpool hosted the Spanish team in back-to-back pre-season friendlies. And the former Benfica man found the back of the net as his side ran out 4-1 winners in the opening match. But he may no longer be at Anfield by the time the Reds begin their Premier League campaign against Bournemouth next Friday.
