A fan has shared a natural and chemical-free alternative to help deter from your home and Chantel Mila, who goes by Mama Mila on recently shared some of her top tips for keeping mosquitoes away.
Instead of using chemical products, Chantel revealed she uses a common food and drink product. For coffee lovers, you're in luck, because all you'll need is leftover beans or grounds to do the job. So don't throw them away next time you use them, but reserve them to make your own natural repellent.

To keep mosquitoes at bay, Chantel suggested using coffee beans or grounds as a natural solution. All you need to do is boil a saucepan with water and add the coffee beans or grounds in it to amplify the scent.
Chantel explained: "Mosquitos hate the smell of coffee, so boil leftover coffee beans or clove on your stovetop to repel mossies."
She also suggested placing any leftover coffee grounds to plants to repel other insects too. It can also help as a natural fertiliser for the plants, too.
Mosquitoes are deterred by boiling and burning coffee due to their strong sense of smell. By burning the grounds, the scent will then be amplified.
explained that the strong smell will "bother" the mosquitoes and keep them away from your home and garden. By burning the coffee grounds, it releases compounds which interfere with the mosquitoes' ability to find their targets.
W & W Nursery and Landscaping: "Insects also generally associate smoke with danger, so the smoke alone is a signal to them to find shelter elsewhere."
Coffee grounds don't just ward off mosquitoes, but are an effective solution to deter other annoying pests like wasps and bees.
Traditional methods of mosquito control include using citronella candles, incense, and chemical repellent sprays.
Coffee grounds offer a more cost effective and chemical alternative. also suggested using a mixture of water and coffee can also prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs in gardens.
It explained: "That being said, while the coffee-water mixture did reduce the number of larvae present, it made little difference in the prevention of adult mosquitoes in the space. If considering the use of coffee grounds outdoors in this manner, it is important to thoroughly research.
"While coffee grounds are a popular additive to compost piles, it is important to remember that they may not provide the mosquito-repelling results you're hoping for."
