One of the best war movies of all time is available to stream on Netflix - 92% score

Netflix viewers will be pleased to discover that one of the best war films of all time is streaming on the platform. With an impressive score of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, both fans and critics have hailed this war epic from Christopher Nolan. The film is set in World War II when soldiers from Britain, Belgium and France attempted to escape battle from German troops on the lands of Dunkirk. The historical drama stars, Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, Fionn Whitehead, Jack Lowden, Kenneth Brannagh, Mark Rylance, Barry Keoghan and Harry Styles in his first acting role. The film is of course, Dunkirk.

The movies synopsis reads: "In May 1940, Germany advanced into France, trapping Allied troops on the beaches of Dunkirk. Under air and ground cover from British and French forces, troops were slowly and methodically evacuated from the beach using every serviceable naval and civilian vessel that could be found. At the end of this heroic mission, 330,000 French, British, Belgian and Dutch soldiers were safely evacuated."

With it's impressive rating from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes, they conclude: "Dunkirk serves up emotionally satisfying spectacle, delivered by a writer-director in full command of his craft and brought to life by a gifted ensemble cast that honors the fact-based story."

One critic wrote a rave review, stating: "The visuals, the structure, the use of sound and music, and the simple presence of a beating heart - all come together in a whole that is truly breathtaking."

"Dunkirk is a the best directed film of the year and perhaps Christopher Nolan's best film yet. The way he plays with space and time, alongside his technical prowess of sensory storytelling, makes the film so immersive in supplanting you into these events," another added.
