The door of an oven is one of the first places to get dirty because as food cooks, grease and food particles attach themselves to this area. If left for weeks or months at a time to sit and solidify, the stains can be difficult to remove even with vigorous scrubbing.
To make oven door cleaning easier households can use specialist oven cleaners, however, these or full of toxic chemicals. Instead, a cleaning enthusiast has discovered a kitchen remedy that's hasn't costed her a penny and has worked better than most of the specialised products she's tried over the years. Michelle Cusker took to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page to share her discovery. She said: "I am in total shock. Tried so many products over the years to clean my oven (my most hated job), even buying expensive cleaning products.
"I saw the dishwasher tablets today and thought now or never. Can't believe how well it worked and took less than five minutes. Didn't have to spend a penny."
To clean the oven glass door that was completely brown from baked-on grease, Michelle explained that she just grabbed a dishwasher tablet, wet it slightly and rubbed it over the glass.
The key to getting the best results with the dishwasher tablet method is to just wet it slightly so it glides across the glass, but not too much that it crumbles and falls apart instantly.
Once the grease and grime melts away with the cleaning table, just grab a wet microfibre cloth to wipe down the glass.
Taking to the comments section, Mrs Hinch fans were big fans of this cleaning hack. Sharon Byrne wrote: "I used it today and yes it really does work."
Sue Veitch said: "This is the only tip I've taken away from this group so far and I will keep using it."
Nicole Bennett commented: "Done mine last week with this on the oven door and trays. They came up like new."
Some cleaning fans were a little sceptical of this hack as they were worried that it scratches the oven glass. However, Michelle quickly put their minds at ease. She replied: "It didn't sound nice when I was cleaning it but no, not scratched at all."
