Kate Garraway popped up on our screens last night as one of 19 celebrities taking part in the first-ever UK version of The Celebrity Traitors. While there was a lot going on, it was some of the celebrity outfits that really caught my eye. Kate's, in particular, is bang on trend for autumn.
Her gorgeous check coat not only tied in with her Scottish Highlands backdrop, but also made use of one of this season's biggest colours. The pattern combines a mix of chocolate brown (which seems to be everywhere this season) with a pretty sky blue that really makes a statement. Now, I haven't been able to track down the exact one Kate wore, but I have found a super similar style from boohoo that's a dead ringer, and it won't break the bank either. It's currently just £48 (down from £60, thanks to a 20% discount in the ongoing sale).
As an added bonus, this boohoo coat comes with a detachable scarf, perfect for staying warm as the chill sets in. Because the scarf detaches, you can easily pair it with other outfits too.
The calf-skimming length is perfect for layering up as the weather turns colder. It fastens at the front with buttons and has a slightly oversized fit, which not only looks stylish but also means there's plenty of room for chunky knits or extra layers underneath.
Though the bold pattern makes it stand out from the sea of black and grey coats we usually get at this time of year, I still think it's super versatile. You could dress it up for evenings out or keep it casual for daytime strolls. While it's designed to give a classic wool look, it's actually made from a synthetic wool-effect polyester. And it's worth mentioning that because of the material, this coat isn't machine washable.
It's currently available on the boohoo website in sizes 8 through to 16.
If you love Kate's checked coat vibe but fancy a different colour combo or cut, don't worry. There are plenty of similar styles on the high street right now. I've rounded up a few of my favourites below.
