Trooping the Colour flypast 2025: route map, time, aircraft and how to watch

Royal fans excitedly await this year's which will kickstart in just a few hours' time. The celebration will be marked by a military parade and conclude with an impressive RAF Flypast in the skies above Buckingham Palace.

More than 1,350 soldiers of the Household Division and King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery, including over 300 musicians from the Massed Bands, will take part in the event. The stunning parade will also include 250 soldiers from the Foot Guards who will line the processional route along The Mall.

The parade begins at Horse Guards Parade at 10.30am and will finish by 12.25pm.

A fly-past by the RAF will take place at 1.00pm, which spectators will be watching from The Mall and across the rest of the city.

Members of the Royal Family normally step outside Buckingham Palace and watch the flypast from the iconic balcony.

In 2024, aircraft flew over the sea near the Suffolk's coast at approximately 11am before moving inland.

According to , the flypast for the King's Birthday will mandate restrictions in the vicinity of the North Sea, East Anglia, Essex, and London to facilitate the flight over the Palace.

Given the large number of aircraft involved, the Secretary of State for Transport has deemed it necessary to introduce the Restriction of Flying Regulations under Article 239 of the Air Navigation order 2016.

Following the death of pilot in a Spitfire crash on May 25, 2024, a Lancaster Bomber, Spitfire, and Hurricane from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) did not take part.

The public can watch the parade from stands on Horse Guards Parade, but only if they got a ticket via an .

If you were not lucky enough to get a ticket, you can have a "limited" view of the event by standing on The Mall, or on the edge of St James's Park overlooking Horse Guards Parade.

But this might be obscured by troops on parade.
