Chatra: One person was stabbed by two others for refusing to cut the branches of a Palash tree in a forest at Gajwa village in Chatra district on Tuesday. The victim, Upendra Yadav, suffered multiple knife stabs.

He was attacked by two persons — Badal Khan and his son Kafe — the victim's younger brother Satendra Yadav claimed. The accused were said to be forcing the victim to cut the branches illegally which he refused to do.

He said, "Badal was putting pressure on my brother for several days to cut the branches of the tree. When he refused, Badal and his elder son Kafe called him and attacked him with a knife."

Police said they have started investigating the matter and conducted raids to arrest the accused.

At Sadar Hospital, Dr Ashish Kumar and Dr Manish Lal said that Upendra Yadav came to the hospital soaked in blood. He was stabbed more than half a dozen times in the back. He is under treatment, doctors said.
