Elon Musk has postponed his address, scheduled for the evening of Tuesday (May 27) to Wednesday morning (May 28). The tech billionaire was supposed to speak to thousands of SpaceX employees, focusing on his long-standing mission to "make life multiplanetary."

Musk said that the address is rescheduled for SpaceX's launch of its ninth Starship flight .

"This talk is postponed until after the Starship Flight 9 launch tonight," Musk said in a post.

How to watch Elon Musk’s address
Musk will deliver his speech at 6.30 am ET (4pm IST), May 28. The event will be livestreamed by SpaceX on X (formerly Twitter). The address will take place at SpaceX’s Starbase facility in Boca Chica, Texas—roughly 23 miles from Brownsville, near the US-Mexico border.

Meanwhile, SpaceX has announced that the ninth Starship flight test could take place on the evening of May 27, with the launch window opening at 7:30 pm ET (5am IST). The flight test will be livestreamed on the SpaceX website, on X, and via the X TV app.

Musk's Mars ambition
Musk has emphasised his ambition to send an uncrewed mission to Mars by 2026 and possibly land humans on the Red Planet by 2031. The upcoming launch follows a series of eight test flights since 2023. While recent tests have ended in mid-air explosions, the rocket boosters performed as expected, safely returning to Earth.

Musk sees Mars as crucial to humanity’s survival.

"That’s one of the benefits of Mars—it’s life insurance for life collectively. We need to become a multi-planet civilization, because Earth will eventually be incinerated," he said in a recent interview with Fox News. NASA estimates that this could happen in about six billion years, due to the expansion of the Sun.
