Twitter down: Elon Musk-owned platform faces outage for third time in just 7 days

Elon Musk 's social media platform , X (earlier Twitter), has experienced its third outage in just seven days. The latest widespread disruption is affecting users in the United States, India and other countries. This marks the second multi-regional outage within the current week for the platform. According to outage monitoring site Downdetector , user reports in India reached nearly 30 around 7 PM local time (IST) while in the US, complaints significantly increased to more than 400 reports at the same time. Just days earlier, over the weekend, X experienced a more severe disruption. Reports peaked at over 2,000 in India and exceeded 26,000 in the United States. These outages follow another major disruption last week.


How the latest X outage is affecting users



As per Downdetector data, in the US, 49% of affected users reported issues with the website, 41% with the mobile app, and 10% cited server connection problems. In India, 53% of users reported server connectivity issues, followed by 29% facing login problems and 18% encountering app-related disruptions. The company has yet to release an official explanation for the cause of this latest outage.

What X said about the previous outages

During the previous outage, the platform's engineering team said: “We're still experiencing issues from yesterday's data centre outage. Login and signup services are unavailable for some users, and there may be delays in notifications and Premium features. Our team is working 24/7 to resolve this. Thanks for your patience—updates soon.”



Before this post, the company’s engineering team shared another update, which said: “X is aware some of our users are experiencing performance issues on the platform today. We are experiencing a data center outage and the team is actively working to remediate the issue.”
